hm....I't just a copy. I think selling a copy is ok, but selling an original piece of art that the artist has done for you is crap! the question is, who wants to buy a copy? you can, like i do with nearly every gab art, print it at home with your computer.

I wrote to Gab about this already but there is nothing he can do about Crap like that. Let us all Hope this has been the Last Time something like this happens to Gabs Art . I don`t think it has been done before.......NO FAN APPRECIATES this kindo thing! Best M

I can understand it if somebody must sell something from lack of funds. A copy?? Who will pay for a simple copy?
But seemingly the salesperson not even possesses the original!

"hm....I't just a copy. I think selling a copy is ok, but selling an original piece of art that the artist has done for you is crap! the question is, who wants to buy a copy? you can, like i do with nearly every gab art, print it at home with your computer." I don't think that selling a original piece of art thru eBay (or other internet auctions) is per defination 'crap'. I have been collecting original art for quite some time and my best place to obtain it is eBay. For example Gab does quite a few european conventions, but not that many USA conventions (not that I know of). If you live in the USA the only way to get your hands on a original Dell'Otto is to contact him directly, or try to get one of eBay. Thanks to eBay I have original work from artists like Dave McKean, Duncan Fegredo and Simon Bisley ..I wouldn't have the opportunity to obtain it/them otherwise. And there are also a lot of artists that sell their work thru eBay (Eric Powell, Vince Locke, Guy Davis, Chris Bachalo, etc.) I think it is 'crap' when people start to make forgeries of sketches they have seen somewhere on the internet, luckely I haven't seen many of them. + Stefan has a good point there ..why isn't there a small Dell'Otto sketchbook from the paintings/sketches of this site?? ..Gab, Xav?? + just to irritate Achim a little bit: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4174&item=6515918341..I was extremely happy when I won this~ ;D

i did'nt want you to understand that wrong. in my oppinion it's wrong what he does, i mean selling this copy. but it's difficult to express what i mean...my english, you know .... what i mean is, that it's crap to make money with a present. but it's the fault of the people who pay for something like this, because they are responsibly, that those people never quit trying to make fast money with the present the artist gave you by doing a sketch. IT'S ABSOLOUTELY NOT OK! sorry that i wrote such a sh*t. And i think it's not ok to sell an original piece of art because by selling it you could say him directely in his face that you don't like his work. I hate people who tell the artist:" I love your work, you are the greatest" and two weeks later you find his work on ebay. it's also not fair for all the FANS who stand for hours in a queue just to get a little headsketch because they really admire the artists work ,and often don't receive one, but those people do nearly every time.

About selling Gabs art i could say, that i don´t think i´ll do this at any time. Everyone who has a sketch should be happy to call fine art his own. To sell an original is maybe the only thing i could understand. There could be many reasons, f.e. not enough place, changed taste of art, less money ... But who sells an copy? I think that the only reason is to make money with other talents. The seller is not able to do something own and therefore he uses other people. Maybe he likes the art because he doesn´t want to sell the original... Everyone who wants to get art, should be able to buy it anywhere, but only originals. Not everyone has the time to stay hour after hour in a stinky room and wait for the time to try his luck, only to see that he only has bad luck. Than it´s easier to buy it. Think of the dead artists like van Gogh, Rembrand or Rizzi who´s still alive... Do they make conventions? Last but not least : Markus keeps the collected art from Gab like his eyes or his girlfriend ( the sketches even a bit better )

I think Gab made it at home to make anyone happy or to sell it. The bad thing is, that with eyery new bidding on this painting the price for an original Dell Otto wil rise, so that a normal fan won´t be able to pay for a comission.
And then? Who will enjoy the art? Only the rich people?
Don´t misunderstand, the art is worth it and it´s good for Gab!

..you've got a point there. But a lot of GREAT artists have unaffordable/expensive commission prices. I have been trying to get my hands on a Dave McKean, Mignola or Travis Charest piece for quite some time ..just way to expensive. But if the Art is good and it is in demand, there is not a lot you can do about it Hopefully Gab wouldn't ask absurt prices, but he defenitely belongs to the GREATS ..so I wouldn't be suprised if he did~

I know, i know, the world is expensive and only the dead is for free. One big point for Gab is, that he gives always his best at the convention where the fans won´t have to pay.

I gave the sketch for free at Lucca convention 2004... I'm really sorry about this thing....because I know the guy who sold the piece!
I think I won't do other color sketches in the next conventions...in this way I don't risk those kind of things!
Sorry, Gab!

NOOOOO!! It is always very inspiring seeing you paint those beautifull pieces at a convention ..it would be a shame if you wouldn't do them anymore It is understandable that it could be frustrating seeing someone sell your gift, but you've made A LOT of people very happy with your art ..hopefully you'll change your mind. Love your Art! cheers, Max-
