Hi Everyone,
Here is my story about the first time I got to meet Gab live and in person. I got the biggest surprise of my life when I attended NYCC 2008 a few months ago. It was not announced that Gab would be coming to the show, but as I walked by the Marvel booth there was a sign stating which artist would be appearing on Saturday and the times.
Sure enough I looked through the list and it said Gab would be there at 11:00AM. I barely had enough time to jump in line, but luckily I was one of the first ones. Although I was very angry at the people who ran the show because they should have announced that Gab would be there, if they had I would have brought many books for him to sign. As it was, I didn't have anything for him to sign, other than my sketchbook.
As we waited for Gab to arrive I saw some people walk by the line and they had Spiderman posters in their hands, I could tell the Artist was Gab right away so I asked them where they got the posters. They said the posters were being handed out for free at the booth that was promoting the new Spiderman video game that Gab had done the art for. I was lucky enough to have the guy in line behind me hold my place in line while I went looking for the posters. I got two one for me and one for my son.
Gab arrived a little late but it was well worth the wait. Although I'm not Italian I studied Italian for a few years while attending Temple University. Needless to say as soon as Gab arrived I started speaking to him in Italian, he was an extremely nice and sincere person, I was glad to see that he is very down to earth. Gab signed both of the poster for my son & I, he also did a quick Wolverine headsketch which you can see here.

I hope that Gab comes back to the NYCC next year so I can have him do a detailed commissioned piece for me, even though it is expensive, his art is fantastic.
Well that's my story, hope you like the Wolvie sketch.
Ciao,
Carlos
